Shortlisted for the Aontas Star Award 2017

Here at KCAT, Callan we have had some very exciting news and we thought that since you are such a supporter of community and the arts, you would like to share in our excitement!

Our Centre has been shortlisted for the 11th AONTAS STAR Awards. The STAR Awards (Showcasing Teamwork, Awarding Recognition) are an awards initiative coordinated by AONTAS as part of the annual Adult Learners’ Festival to acknowledge the fantastic work undertaken by adult learning initiatives throughout Ireland. The awards celebrate the positive contribution that these initiatives make to individual adult learners, local communities and wider society. Aontas (The Irish Adult Learning Organisation) have said that the ‘quality and volume of nominations this year was exceptional, resulting in a highly competitive process.’ An independent panel of judges carried out a detailed review of all the nominations received in the social inclusion category and have chosen KCAT Art & Study Centre as one of four finalists. It is good to be among such worthy nominees: Intercultural Drop-in Centre, The Irish Men’s Shed Association and East Clare Learning in Action

The next step for KCAT is to meet the judges in two weeks’ time where staff and students will showcase the unique inclusive programme of Arts which the Centre offers. Judges are made up of a panel of experts from the adult and community education sector.

We are busy preparing for this now but want everybody know that we have made it this far. We would so appreciate you spreading the news in any way you can! Social Media, chatting to your colleagues etc. Just letting people know good things are happening!
