Clyde has been attending KCAT for many years, continuing to explore and develop his artistic skills. This year, he has experimented with a wide varlety of art forms. He has tried textile techniques, producing a stitched version of his pink house in Carrick-on-Suir.

Johnny has been at KCAT for 6 years. He likes to paint and use glue.  His favourite shape is a triangle.

Siobhan has been attending KCAT for two years, developing her skills in both photography and painting. She has a lifelong love of being. Creative, and especiallly loves working with colour and paint. She has also studied theatre at KCAT.

I been at KCAT a long time. I like Painting blue!! I like to tell people my my art is lovely. “Maria is a true Colourist. She takes as much time mixing her colours as applying the colour to paper. A methodical process used for the mixing of each hue.” – Maurice Caplice

John Paul lives for painting. He works quickly applying layers of paint to create abstract, leather like pieces. He then uses pastels to make marks over these paintings.

I studied at Grennan Mill Craft School. I became very interested in batik and working on fabrics under the influence of Peter Wenger (Batik Artist).  I have works in many collections and I have exhibited widely.

Áine has been part of KCAT for 14 years. During this time, she has explored both drama and art.  She enjoys painting, stitching, and experimenting with new techniques. Although it can be hard work, Áine finds that the effort is always worth it in the end.

Neal has been coming to KCAT for many years and ejoys mixed media on paper, for example painting with acrylics or choosing the colours for drawing with oil pastels and ceramics. When creating his art, he likes to take his time, so each of Neal’s pieces come to life step by step over the course of multiple weeks.

This was my 3rd year attending KCAT. (1 day a week). This has given me the opportunity to return to painting and drawing since my retirement in 2022. I’m really enjoying trying out different media and challeging myself to try out new things and learning loads.  I’m also enjoying the wonderful tuition and company of  the other students.

Jonas began attending KCAT in 2023. He enjoys working primarily with makers, using them to explore line, shape, and colour in his artwork. Throughout his time in KCAT, he has grown in confidence and creativity.

Walter has been attending KCAT for 4 years. During this time he has tried ceramics, print and painting. He likes to explore lots of different techniques and design. I have been attending KCAT for years. I graduated from third level college art and texile design in Belfast in 1991. I work in the area of creativity with adults of diverse abilities. My personal creativity is inspired by the natural world, landscape design, the energy from colour and emotion from a seascape, focusingy on paint, inks, mixed media and textures.

Vlado Balaban has been coming to KCAT for about 10 years. He enjoys painting with acrylics and he enjoys the company of his fellow artists. Art is one of the ways Vlado expresses himself after his stroke that left him unable to speak and paralyzed his right side. Vlado began painting with his left hand, gradually training himself to use a paintbrush.

Luke has been coming to KCAT for under a year. From the age of 5, Luke studied at St. Patrick Special School. Luke’s own work is largery inspired by his own view of the world, and his need to express his inner voice through the use of art, specializing in the medium of alcohol and paint makers on paper. The theme of anger, identity, and self-expression is a strong theme across Luke’s art, most notably his depictions of screaming self-portaits.

Betty Jordan has been coming to KCAT since 2018. Her favourite thing is  to sew but for quiiet time a little painting or drawing. She enjoys taking part in different art projects and explorations. She is drawn towards bright colours and nature, and likes to get lost in Sci-fi programmes.

Mary O’Meara has been coming to KCAT for at least 3 years now. She loves to fill in the whole page with various colour schemes of pastels which can express how she’s feeling as well as reflect what she’s wearing. Her creative drawing process is very interesting as the colours she starts the page out with might be different to the colours that dominate the work when she concludes it.  Furthermore, lovely Mary thrives in wearing scarfs, rugs and all kinds of things.
