Visit the ‘Tropics of Callan’
This exhibition feature 14 artists from the now famous KCAT Studio. This group has being together for the last 15 years. These artist have been the focus of The documentary film shown on RTE Living Colour. The artistic development continuous and is visible in this latest show.
Declan Byrne will show one of his most recent works a large canvas titled the wedding night. Thomas Barron presents his latest paintings of strong composition of colour and texture alongside vibrant floral paintings by Lorna Corrigan. There is also images of local sites by Margret Walker and familiar landscapes by Eileen Mulrooney.
This is also a chance to catch the first public viewing of the dramatic developments in Mary Cody, new style. These are truly remarkable and striking paintings. on top of this you also have Jack Foskin most recent series of pattern paintings, George McCutcheon’s wood relief paintings, Francis Casey’s quirky portraits of well known faces, Fergus Fitzgerald’s Sicilian Temple and Andrew Pikes waiting for Bucket.
Then there is Jason Turner’s birds lured by Karl FitzGerald’s fluid Landscapes and Sinead Fahey’s Exotic birds in tropical colours.
The exhibition will be open Sunday 28th July – Sunday 4th August 2013, 12pm- 5pm
There is no official opening, but there will be a visual arts trail on Saturday 3rd August, 3pm-5pm

Street Theatre Course – Abhaínn Rí Festival
– With Maríosa Hume from StageCraft Ireland
Physical Theatre work can enhance street and stage performance training. It explores various skills that can be used for comedy, mesmerising grandeur , solemn beauty or just simply thought-provoking moments and actions. This workshop will cover: character development, movement awareness and expression, improvisation, rhythm and stage presence… among many others.
The workshop develops:
– Street Performance Choreography
– Movement with circus props
– Object Manipulation
– Improvisation and dramatic play
– Introduction to Juggling, Diabolo and Staff.
This workshop is aimed at all abilities (16+) who wish to develop skills with circus props

POI WORKSHOP – Abhaínn Rí Festival Training
POI workshop starting this November as part of Abhaínn Rí Festival Training with Maríosa Hume from StageCraft Ireland
Poi is a native practice of the Maori and evolved over time from dance to martial art, and circus to fun physical Geometry in Motion exploring concepts such as:
-direction and timing,
-turning and finding freedom to play and flow,
-Weave
-Butterfly combinations
-Stalls
-Buzz-saw and windmill
-learning to learn – learning theory, ideas and techniques
-movement and the mind body connection
The workshops give an introduction to Poi, Flags and Glow techniques.
